Call for Session Leaders

Applications are NOW OPEN for conference session leaders! Lead a workshop, panel discussion, or topic presentation at this year's Deconstruction & Reuse Conference. Rolling review starts on May 15th.

Proposals should generally fit within the three conference tracks:

  • • Buildings: discussions and case studies on how we design, engineer, deconstruct, and preserve our buildings to sustain their value.
  • • Reuse Economics: a dive into the operational side of reuse centers, including retail markets, best practices, operational systems, and process efficiencies.
  • • Communities: a close look at how deconstruction and reuse supports workforce development and jobs, community development, and local economies at various scales. This track includes a focus on developing, incentivizing, and identifying challenges regarding the implementation of deconstruction and salvage policies at the local level.

The goal for presentations this year is to create more interactive sessions with an emphasis on discussion, takeaways, and making connections. Session proposals in the form of workshops, panel discussions, or similar presentation structures are encouraged. The conference planning committee may pair presenters with similar interests or topics as applications are submitted.

Diversity in sessions within the general thematic tracks is also encouraged. Potential sub-themes include:

  • • Branding and marketing
  • • Supply and demand economics
  • • Retail and online sales
  • • Strategic planning and organizational development
  • • Community-based sustainability goals
  • • Deconstruction and salvage ordinances or policies
  • • Waste diversion, climate action and adaptation, or similar plans
