Accredited Deconstruction Contractor

Build Reuse Accreditation Program

We are happy to launch our accreditation program for deconstruction contractors.  In order to transform communities through reuse we need to connect communities.  For 25 years and running education around deconstruction and reuse has been a core mission for Build Reuse formerly the BMRA.  We believe this program will allow for a greater quality and quantity of training, highlight qualified contractors and better connect the communities supporting this industry.

For complete program details including costs and requirements, before you start an application please review the pdf included below.

Meet the requirements?

A few things to help.

We have contracted with QuestionPro, an independent research firm, to field your confidential application. You can save and continue your application as needed.  Here are a few things that would be good to have on hand prior to starting an application:
- Any contractor licensure information including number and location.
- Dates of previously completed deconstruction trainings and contact for the organization who trained you
- Name of staff that have passed the Build Reuse (BMRA) Contractors written exam
- Your current staffing including number of field staff and their type of employment (part time, FT, Temporary, volunteers etc..)
- Number of houses, strip-outs, kitchens and misc projects completed over the past two years.
- Average square footage for full house or commercial deconstructions over the past two years.
- Contact information (phone, e-mail) for two professional references with knowledge of your deconstruction program and an optional client reference.

General FAQ

Who can apply for accreditation

Contractors who are running a full structural deconstruction program may apply (requirements are listed in the our pdf on accreditation above).

What about non-structural deconstruction?

Our goal is to have a similar program in place for programs that only run a strip-out program or remodelers that choose to deconstruct and salvage rather than demolish.  Currently we have no timeline for that, however, we will update this site as we can.

Is this a certification?

No, Build Reuse will take great care when reviewing a contractors application, however, our accreditation is no guarantee that a project will go forth without any complications.  As always individuals should do their own research and make the best decision they can when choosing a contractor.  Build Reuse does reserve the right to review and remove any contractor whom appears to no longer meet our accreditation requirements at any time.
