Dr. Elma Durmišević
For those that follow Industry happenings internationally you have likely heard about Project BAMB (Buildings as Material Banks). Partners from 7 countries in the EU started this venture in 2015, with the mission of "enabling a systemic shift in the building sector by creating circular solutions." Build Reuse is excited to bring Dr. Elma Durmišević whom heads the EU BAMB research group Reversible Buildings at University of Twente (2015-2019). Durmišević will be coming to speak about BAMB and the work she is involved with.
Currently the head of 4D Architects office in Amsterdam, Elma Durmišević holds a PhD at the Delft University of Technology on Transformable Building Structures, and Design for Disassembly in Architecture. As associate professor at the University of Twente Durmisevic developed a master program for dynamic and sustainable buildings that introduced green engineering in industrial design of architecture. Durmisevic Initiated a consortium for the development and construction of a Green Transformable Building Laboratory in The Netherlands a national hub for circular buildings, is a member of number of juries and scientific comities, reviewer of scientific books and journals, was a project leader of number of innovation projects and has developed innovative building systems and measurement tools for sustainable architecture and construction which were published in international books, scientific journals, conference papers and implemented through numerous projects.
