Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Build Reuse Wiki?

The Build Reuse Wiki is a website that displays key information and resources (guidelines, case studies, policy primers, research papers, etc.) produced and shared by the building material reuse community.

Why did Build Reuse decide to develop the Wiki?

In April 2021, a survey was sent to Build Reuse members asking for input on what they hoped the Build Reuse Data & Policy Committee would accomplish in the coming years. Some of the most popular responses reflected a desire for guidelines, tools, case studies, and other resources that already exist in pieces across the internet. The Build Reuse Wiki aims to bring these resources to one centralized platform to facilitate the sharing of information and collaboration among the many groups and individuals advocating for building material reuse in the US, in Canada, and beyond.

How can I add content?

If you would like to see a specific resource posted, please email info@buildreuse.org.

Note that this is a change from the process previously shared by Build Reuse. The initial idea of the Wiki was to have any Build Reuse member who wanted editing access to join as an editor of the Wiki. To gauge interest and increase involvement, the Data & Policy Committee hosted a webinar in July, put calls out for interested individuals through the Build Reuse newsletter, and hosted biweekly Wiki Subcommittee meetings as a space to provide support and direction to editors. Through this pilot, it became evident that even the most enthusiastic individuals have difficulty making the time to post resources on the Wiki.

Because AllAnswered is a pay-by-user platform, it unfortunately did not make sense to continue adding individuals who are typically not using the platform. With this in mind, Wiki subcommittee meetings have been paused and editing access has been removed for all but those who have volunteered to lead future Wiki efforts.

A big thank you to everyone who has helped the Wiki get to where it is today!
