Beaverton, OR Adopts a Climate Action Plan

Beaverton, OR, a small city outside of Portland, adopted its first Climate Action Plan in November 2019.

The plan builds upon a guiding principle of keeping the global temperature increase to less than 1.5̊ C with a community target of zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, and a city operations target of 50 percent fossil fuel reduction and carbon neutral by 2030. The plan’s 86 action items include developing a deconstruction and salvage policy.

First year progress made towards actions from the BCAP is highlighted in the 2020 BCAP Progress Report. The report covers highlights from each of the plan's five chapters, along with opportunities for implementation during 2021.
