Ohio Creates Materials Exchange Clearinghouse

Launched in 2017, the Ohio Materials Marketplace is a free online platform that allows businesses and organizations to connect and find reuse and recycling solution for waste and by-product materials. The marketplace is managed by the Ohio EPA and aims to create a closed-loop, collaborative network of businesses, organizations and entrepreneurs where one organization’s hard-to-recycle wastes and by-products becomes another organization’s raw material. In addition to diverting waste from landfills, these recovery activities will generate significant cost savings, energy savings, and create new jobs and business opportunities.

In the first two years of operation, more than 1,000 members used the Ohio Materials Marketplace to divert nearly 3.7 million pounds of material from Ohio landfills.
